Mapei has supplied its waterproofing system build-up of approximately 7000m2 for luxury apartments, Chelsea Creek based in London.
Chelsea Creek is London’s newest and most prestigious waterside development, by award winning developer St. George.
Situated near Chelsea Harbour, the upmarket apartments have been designed and built to the highest standards and Mapei’s waterproofing products were specified to meet quality standards.
Mapei’s Mapeguard system – an anti-fracture membrane system, Keraquick and Latex Plus – the rapid setting, flexible adhesive and Keraflex Maxi – the high performing, cementitious adhesive were used to install the large porcelain and stone tiles.
The waterproofing capability of the Mapeguard WP membrane system is instantly apparent and the 200mm barrier combined with the non-woven fleece backing helps ensure both excellent adhesion and effective anti-fracture characteristics.
Prior to the installation of the floor tiles, Mapei’s Ultraplan Renovation Screed (which is suitable for the undertile heating systems) was laid to level the differences in thicknesses.
Ultraplan Renovation Screed is a fibre reinforced self-levelling compound, designed for use in the refurbishment of existing floors in both commercial and domestic applications.
The benefits of using Mapei Topcem hydraulic screed binder were also evident, allowing the shower trays to be installed after only 4 days.
Once all the tiles were laid, Keracolor FF the high performance, water repellent, cement-based grout was applied. Keracolor FF is suitable for maximum joint widths of 6mm and is available in 18 colours, becoming smooth and glossy when mixed with Mapei’s Fugolastic.
