Product of the Week: Pavegen Tile: renewable energy paving tile

Each week we will choose a different product to feature on our blog as the Barbour Product Search Product of the Week. This week we have chosen the Pavegen renewable energy paving tile from Pavegen Systems Ltd.

Key Features:

Pavegen renewable energy paving tile

• Paving slab designed to harvest kinetic energy
• Converts kinetic energy into electricity
• Energy harvested can power off-grid applications or be stored
• Top surface made from 100% recycled rubber
• Designed to withstand harsh outdoor locations with high footfall

Product Description:

The technology of the Pavegen tile converts the kinetic energy of footsteps into electricity. The company claims that a 5mm movement is enough to harvest the wasted kinetic energy and convert it into off-grid power.

The Pavegen tile is suited to high-footfall urban environments and the energy created can be used to power off-grid applications such as interactive displays, street lighting and advertising.

The top surface of the Pavegen tile is made from 100% recycled rubber and the base of the slab is constructed from over 80% recycled materials. The company claims that the system can be retrofitted in place of existing flooring systems as well as specified for new developments.
