TAPER-LOC® is a glass balustrade system designed for frameless glass balustrade applications. The TAPER-LOC® system applies precision tension to secure glass in an aluminium base shoe without the use of cement. CR Laurence claims that this technique can reduce installation time by up to 50% while still exceeding code standards.
The System includes an Installation/Removal Tool and CRL TAPER-LOC® Tapers for 12mm, 15mm, and 19mm toughened monolithic glass applications, and 13.52mm, 17.52mm, 21.52mm, and 25.52mm laminated toughened glass. The Installation/Removal tool mechanically slides the Tapers horizontally in the base shoe and compresses them together. When compressed they expand in thickness and lock in place. When the correct tension is applied, the torque wrench will 'click' and break for a few degrees of rotation. The same Tool will also loosen the Tapers for glass alignment or replacement, so if the glass panel is scratched or broken it can be replaced with ease, with no disruption to the rest of the balustrade.
