Top 7 tiling trends of 2017

When it comes home interior design, kitchens and bathrooms can really steal the show. The piste de resistance of any home renovation. And, in any kitchen and bathroom design project the tiling can make it or break it.

In recent years tiling has really taken the lead amongst interior design trends, but what’s hot in 2017? Here are our top 7 tiling design trends for the year.

The subway tile, with a twist

Subway and metro tiles have been in fashion for a while now, a nod to our Victorian ancestors. You can find this trend quite literally everywhere from kitchens and bathrooms to trendy cafes and restaurants.

If you or your clients love the simplicity of the subway tile but don’t want to follow the crowd jazz up your tiles by arranging them in a herringbone style or lengthways for a 70s vibe.

Another way to vamp up this trend is to use black or grey grout to give those simple tiles an edge.

Patterns

A good way to add a bit of personality to any bathroom, kitchen, or even hallway is to add a patterned floor or “feature” wall.

A bold floor tile will really compliment white or neutral walls whether you chose a bold pattern or a softer one they can really add another dimension to your design.

Geometric

Gone are the days of traditional square or rectangle tiles, make way for 3D effect cubes, hexagonal and triangle shaped tiles.

Geometric designs can add a harder contrast to the on-trend all white kitchens and bathrooms and colour can even be incorporated to really create that modern look.

Marble

Marble is everywhere at the moment, this was a key trend in 2016 and it looks to carry on going this year too. White and grey marble tiles can really add a hint of luxury to any bathroom or kitchen. Look out for marble-look tiles instead of the real deal to cut corners on cost.

Jewel Tones

Rich emeralds, dark blues and purples have become more popular across many mediums in interior design this year. Used in contrast with white walls and surfaces, mixed in with reclaimed woods and coppers these jewel tone tiles can really add depth to a design.

Fish scale tiles

In a world obsessed with mermaids is it really a surprise that these fish scale tiles are a hot trend for 2017? They can add eye-catching colour or texture to bathroom walls or floors.

High gloss

High gloss tiles will never go out of fashion, they really do create an expensive modern look without costing the earth.

High gloss can elevate your white and neutral tiles to another level and with darker colours great something really striking and ultra glam.

High gloss tiles allow you to play around with light and make the most of smaller spaces.
