Client: Olympic Village
Type of works: Adjustable Support Pads and Slope Correctors
A good example of Wallbarn products that demonstrates the quick and easy laying of paving slabs is the work being carried out on the Olympic Village in Stratford, London. Wallbarn were specified by architects for the Wallbarn Adjustable Support Pads (ASP) and slope correctors.
Wallbarn adjustable support pads were specified in order to support raised paving around the walkways on the podium deck surrounding the communal garden space. They were also used for each property development and for paving individual property patio areas. The client wanted a free standing system to allow water to drain beneath the slabs as opposed to bedding down.
As there was significant change in levels slope correctors were required to level the base of the support pad and thereby ensuring a completely flat, tidy finish.Stem sizes ranged from 95mm up to 160mm across the whole area due to the overall fall.
Due to time pressures, the client wanted a product to allow for a quick and easy installation of the paving slabs and was able to install up to 500m2 per day. The Wallbarn Adjustable Support Pads were specified for this very reason.
Certain areas needed to be left exposed to allow for the construction of fences around individual property patio areas.
This is no problem for a free standing, suspended paving deck.
Wallbarn has been specified on a number of additional property blocks for Adjustable Support Pads and Slope Correctors within the Olympic Village.
Construction is on-going and is due for completion in December 2011.
